Oh, isn't that nice--Ms. J has found you.

These give a nice sense of Robert at work on some of his best-known subjects, lyrical young girls and lively spaniels. Having seen your sculpture for a while, I am wondering whether commissions tend to focus around the subjects you've already established. If so, is that good? It certainly makes your "body of work" coherent, and develops lots of variations on particular themes.

It seems peculiar to me, but when I get a request for a story on a particular subject, say, for an anthology, it almost always is something I would never have dreamed of doing. I don't know why that is....

Yes it is true one can get stuck in a rut. Yes I do like these two subjects though! I am not quite sure what you mean by lyrical in this case.

To be fair I have done lots of different animals (10 different dogs for example) and been commissioned to do an “older” man.

I do sometimes do my own ideas when I have to get away from a work, and that is fun. I did think someone was going to commission me to do a yacht but it hasn’t happened yet.

Thanks for your nice comment on my blog.I.m surprised by the creativity of your family. You must be proud of your children. You have to love life to make such beautiful sculptures.

Lyrical girls: graceful, budding, on the verge, lovely...

A yacht! Now that would be a departure. I'd like to see your complete works in one big spot, but I suppose I won't, unless it's on the web. You and Chris are proliferators of websites.
